Amazon.com Product Description
The DHT-700DV system features an advanced all-in-one DVD player / 5-channel A/V receiver combination with the new Dolby Digital/Pro Logic II decoder, which lets you enjoy the full ambience of 5.1-channel sound from a wealth of program sources. With the DHT-700DV and Dolby Pro Logic II, you can convincingly re-create the realism of 5.1-channel surround sound from any conventional 2-channel source, as well as DVDs recorded in full digital 5.1-channel surround. Its elegant, space-saving design blends harmoniously in any home theater decor.

It features the DSW-27 powered subwoofer with a built-in active crossover that adds a powerful bass foundation to 5-channel surround for both movie and music playback and a 35 watt amplifier with deep bass response. The compact center channel and satellite speakers are acoustically matched and magnetically shielded, and have a two-way design featuring a 3.5-inch woofer and high-quality silk dome tweeter.

When you insert a disc, the convenient Auto Decode function automatically detects the sound format (Dolby Digital, DTS, or music CD) and starts playing the disc. It also detects digital broadcast satellite (DBS) signals, so that when you are receiving a 5.1-channel broadcast, for instance, you will automatically hear it in full surround sound.

The DVD player features a DVD-ROM drive for playback of DVD, CD, CD-R/RW discs and an MP3 decoder. The AM/FM tuner offers 40 presets. It provides the following connections:

  • Composite Video In: 3
  • Composite Video Out: 2
  • S-Video In: 3
  • S-Video Out: 2

What's in the Box

5 out of 5 stars slick system   April 24, 2002

So I'm not going to pretend to know much about home theater technology. This is my first excursion into the market. I'm really pleased. The sound is great and picture quality seems good (although my TV isn't that big).

The main critcisms I've seen on this system are the lack of power (this isn't a problem) and the lack of coaxial inputs (it just has optical inputs). The lack of coaxial inputs did represent a problem as I have Time Warner Digital Cable that only has a coaxial output, not optical. However, this problem can be solved by buying a digital signal converter that will allow you to run your coaxial cable box output into your optical input on the denon system. I bought a simple one way converter from sound professionals (about 30 bucks).

And if you're intersted, it looks awesome too, despite the lack of pictures on this site.
